St. Louis is a slum

Since activity on our blog has turned the way of a Saturday evening network television show I'll try and stir things a bit.

1. What the heck has happened to the St. Louis Arch (see picture above). All those cables supporting the thing, a video board suspended in the middle, and a Hard Rock cafe installed on the lawn beneath it. Tacky.

2. The Royals bullpen has weathered the lows and is one of the best in the bigs (thats the AL to those who live in NL cities).

3. Anyone own a Mac? I'm thinking of converting.

4. Who the heck does Houstons think they are. Last night Carrie and I went out for her birthday, had two drinks a piece, an appetizer, and two entrees consisting of steak and prime rib. The freaking bill was $130. I didn't spend that much in the Gaslamp a couple of weeks ago, beneath a picture of Bill Clinton eating at our table. I'm pretty sure Bubba has never been to KC's Houstons.

4B. I had the pleasure of sitting next two tables of high school kids out on prom night. Heres a little scorecard I kept

- Number of times I heard the term "free refills" - 2
- Number of times I saw kids on cell phones (something prohibited according to a sign at the door and on the menu - 3
- Number of times I heard the phrase "Get You Some" - 1
- Number of white kids that talked like they went to Ruskin, but probably go to Blue Valley West - atleast 4
- Chances of automatic gratuity NOT being added to their bill - 3675-1

Remember I teach high school, and so my threshold of annoying high school conversations is pretty high already but needless to say we didnt stay for dessert.

Good thoughts Nate,
Stephanie and I went to Houston's a few weeks back and did not have a real positive experience either. We sat in the bar and ordered apps. the waitress told us the special was 'chicken tempura and pomme frites' twenty minutes later we had a $20 plate of cold chicken fingers and french fries....we will not be going back.
Joakim Soria has not given up a run in any of his 14 starts this year....has 8 saves....but your common baseball fan has no idea who he is.....if he played on either coast he would be the next coming of Marino Rivera.

Yes...a similar thing happened with J.J. Putz two years ago.

Sadly, Soria has been nails for two seasons now and really sees no credit outside of the clubhouse.

Next, Chris...did you go to the Houston's in Santa Monica? My friend Cliff from Blue Springs has worked there for 2 years now. It is the one on Ocean Ave. I think he has been in California too long because he named his first born child "Maverick" over the winter.

No...it was the Houston's in Irvine which happens to be on the same street that 'Cardinal Hero' Scott Spezio got busted last winter.

I remember I took a girl I was dating to Houston's when we were junior's. She was a senior but I don't remember her name. I remember where she lives. Up the street from Mike Rehak sp?? I was thinking after that dinner and a little time down on the plaza I might be heading to 3rd base. I think I got picked off of 1st.

Wait for it...

Mike Geekhak?

Nice!

Ah the elusive triple. Some are built for it, others never worry about them and settle for many doubles and the occasional homer.

Tim I remember the girl you are talking about. I can't remember her name either.
