My thoughts from last nights game:
- Talib is one hell of a Cornerback, BTW I am not sure I have ever seen a flag thrown for high stepping.
- I don't understand Va Tech's platoon QB situation- it appears to me that when they want to pass they go with Glennon and when they want the possible option of the QB to run they go with Taylor- it looks like KU exposed this weakness early on.
- I also don't understand why Va Tech didn't run the ball more. It seemed like KU's defense had a hard time stopping Ore, yet for some reason Va Tech felt compelled to try and pass to win the game.
- Is it me or did Mangino out coach Beamer in that game?
With three Bowl games left it looks like the top 5 placement is locked the outcome of the International and GMAC Bowls could cause a change between 6th and 7th place:
1st place 61pts - Goyer
2nd place 56pts - Vratny
3rd place 55pts - Rippee
4th place 54pts - Stephens
5th place 52pts - Sedovic
6th place 47pts - N Parrish
7th place 46pts - Little
8th place 40pts - M Parrish

Back when they passed the rule for "No Celebrations" they used to throw the flag for high stepping, but I dont think that since they altered to it to "No Group Celebrations" have I seen a flag for high stepping.
One thing that they talked about late in the game was that KU had been called for 4 penalties, and all of them were for 15 yards which tells me that KU is a very disciplined team once the play clock starts running, but their inexperience in close meaningful games was apparent in that they couldnt keep their head straight and avoid the personal fouls or unsportsmanlike penalties.
How costly could that interception after the penalty have been in the 2nd half when KU had it first and goal from the one yard line if Va Tech would have scored again. I'm not sure if that was good or bad luck.
Also, how many dropped balls did Va Tech have
Finally, what was up with Mangino turning and scolding someone before the end of the game and then when the KU players went to dump him with the Gatorade an assistant coming over and stopping them from dousing Mangino with liquid?
I can do without the high-step and have no problem with the flag. They also need to outlaw the somersault flips into the endzone. One of these players is going to seriously injure themselves.
Speaking of something that simply needs to go away, did Mangino purposely dodge the Gatorade dump? That whole situation at the end of the game seemed weird......
I agree KU probably cut some lucky breaks or had some bad breaks in that game, but they did not fold and I think that is why they won that game.
Also agree with the endzone flips and the Gatorade dumps needing to go away! I actually like that Mangino found a way to dodge it!
